Two simple ways to
reduce your energy costs

wagon wheel complex
Energy costs for sports lighting are less than most people think. Appropriate lighting design and systems that provide different light levels for varying needs also contribute to energy savings.

A complete system from foundation to poletop that redirects wasted light onto the playing surface
Retrofit & Indoor Applications
Light-Structure Green's modular photometric unit can be used to perform from your choice of structures – makes retrofit of old equipment easy.
Light-Pak System™
Indoor lighting that operates at your choice of two energy levels
Energy costs for sports lighting are less than most people think, however, innovative technology exists to significantly reduce energy usage while meeting the viewing needs of players and spectators. The lifetime savings accrued from wise facility management can return funds which can support other recreational opportunities.

Learn more about how you can achieve energy efficient sports lighting through:
  1. Appropriate design
  2. Flexible programming

1. Appropriate design for energy efficiency
Choose sports lighting systems that maximise light on the playing surface, and optimise energy usage with a minimum number of fixtures
You’re going to use your sports lighting system for years to come. The more efficient the lighting system you choose, the fewer costs you will incur over the life of the system.

Because Musco’s light control technology redirects wasted spill light onto the playing surface, Musco systems can provide up to 25 percent more light per fixture where it counts, on the field. A less efficient system requires more fixtures to produce the appropriate light levels on the field. More fixtures means additional costs for purchase and installation, and more cost for maintenance, such as relamping.

Musco provides:
Efficient reflector technology that reduces energy needs and maximises light on the playing surface
Efficient lamp design that optimises light output, without sacrificing energy due to poor arc position
Designs that utilise appropriate pole heights for optimum aiming angles, requiring fewer fixtures
Economical retrofit products and services for facilities with existing lighting to gain the benefits of new technology

2. Flexible programming for all activities
Choose a solution that allows you to provide the appropriate light levels for all your different activities without sacrificing playing conditions or wasting energy
Your facility needs light levels appropriate to the competition level as well as the sport type.

Competition or tournament games need more light than recreational games or practices. But, because practice sessions can account for five times as much use as spectator events on some fields, providing lighting for the highest level of skill at all times is uneconomical.

Systems that allow for multiple light and energy levels can provide considerable energy savings. These systems allow activities with different lighting needs to share a facility, without wasting energy by providing excessive lighting for activities that don’t require it.
